Routines
Routine of the day (suggested of course!)
9 am PE with Joe Wicks on YouTube
Weekdays at 9 am. (but you can still visit anytime on YouTube to view the workout).
9.30-10.30 am English related activities
1. Phonics warm – up.
Phonics Play Website - warm up practising sounds and tricky words
Username: march20 password: home
2. Read a book or listen to a book. Ideas below:
Online: ‘World of David Walliams’ (Audio books to access.)
Online: Oxford Owl (Lots of free e-books for the children to read.)
Online: Vooks (Read along as the audio book is read.)
Then a chat about the story. Who were the characters? Where was it set? What did they do? Trickier questions… Why did they do that etc.? How did…….?
Then a mark-making activity:
Write a sentence about the story, ideas: describe a character, retell the story, choose your favourite part and say why.
Possible follow up activity – research an animal, vehicle etc. from the story on-line. Use Kiddle (safe search engine for children)
10.30- 11am Break (Playtime and snack)
11am-12 mid-day Maths!
There are lots of great interactive websites online:
ICT games.com, topmarks.co.uk, mathszone.co.uk, sumdog.com (some classes have logins)
12 – 1pm Dinner and Playtime.
Get Active (at home)! ‘Brain gym’
Online ‘Go noodle’. Dance and sing along with’ Kids Bop’ , ‘Koo Koo Kanga Roo’ exercise with ‘Fresh Start’ and ‘Zumba Kids’, chill out with ‘Think about it’ and ‘Flow’, the children know this site and can navigate!
Get Active (out and about)!
Go for a walk and look out for the items displayed in windows put there/made by other children. This week is rainbows. Make a rainbow (or latest picture) to display for other children. After this week it is:
W/c: 30th March - Sunshine
W/c: 13th April - Easter
W/c: 20th April - Animals
W/c: 27th April - Smiley faces
‘Work’ Topic related activities:
Science. Watch National Geographic Kids videos on YouTube e.g. lions in Africa etc.
Science. Lots of zoos are streaming live e.g. Melbourne zoo search online.
History. Horrible Histories on CBBC online.
